And so i sit here absolutely melting in 40 degree heat :S And unlike some people with airconditioners in their homes, i refuse to turn mine on for fear of contributing to western power's shortage of power.. haha and so i continue to melt..

This morning I was reading the STM and I read about some FHM girl next door party that's happening at the Paramount. hehe yes, for some reason, my friends and i like to check out dodgy beauty pageant type parties and this clearly struck my interest. Unfortunately, even after re-reading and checking out the FHM website, i couldnt tell whether the party is on tonight or in the future. So, no "girl next door" parties for me and friends alike... :S *lol*. Sounds dodgy eh?

Last night Quan and I went for dinner at matsuri and im so glad i wore a loosish top to hide that little belly of mine that was rapidly growing in relation to the yummy Chirashi i was eating. I remember eating (and not finishing)the chirashi with XinMin once , and despite that i thought I would get an entree and drinks too. *sigh*. Greedy piggy me. I hardly finished my chirashi, and struggled to eat my Tataki (i think?) and agedashi tofu.. When will i ever learn the lessons of eating less and enjoying more!?

The night before , I went to have dinner at Dusit Thai with Mei and awhole bunch of other people. The food was served in extremely little portions, and after ordering three dishes, we decided we had to order another three to prevent ourselves from suffering from the perils of starvation... It was certainly a yummy dinner, and I would recommend going to Dusit Thai in the future. The food, the ambience, the excellent parking facilities are all fabulous there :)

And so, that's my weekend...! Not so interesting reading is it :p

My "favourites" list is a never-ending list of people's blogs. For some reason, I like to read about the everyday happenings of friends (and not-so-friends), as well as rummage through their minds as they discuss philosophies of life, love, and work.

But having said that, it has come to my attention that perhaps I am not really blogging as a blog should be. I have noticed that a lot of people write about truly personal issues on their blogs - such as , their relationships, their family problems, their friendships and everything else in between.

Me on the other hand? I blog about what im eating, what Ive bought, and never delve into the world of personal issues. I guess it has something to do with being a private person. Very few people in this world know all the personal things I go through, and unlike a lot of "bloggers", Im not all that comfortable having it all splashed out over the world wide web.

So, it makes me wonder? Do my blogs have any reason at all? Should i even be blogging if im not blogging important/personal things like diaries should be...? Hmmm? I guess ill ponder this (or not) over lunch ;)

My skin has broken out :( I think it may be the change of weather coming from SE Asia back to Perth. I have all these little (and big) zits on my face. Oh the shame :( I attempted to book myself in for a facial but the beautician is all booked out until end of January so Ive got my appointment on the 1st of Feb. Oh so long! *grrr*.

Besides that I still have not gotten completely used to living back here in Perth. Several things come to mind....

+ The cost of eating out! hehe I loved eating out for $2 at the local mamak stores back in malaysia and singapore, but coming back here I now have to fork out $10 for a meal. *sigh*.

+ My wardrobe : After living out of a suitcase with limited options for about 5 weeks, I have come home to a wardrobe full of both new and old clothes that seem completely foreign to me. I dont have a clue what I own, and so, when I look inside my wardrobe for things to wear when going out, I end up reverting back to items I had in my suitcase. I think ive learnt the true reason behind "i have nothing to wear" ... I dont think its actually a case of having "nothing" to wear, but having too many options. For example, when I lived out of my suitcase with my 5 or so combinations of clothing, i ALWAYS had something to wear. Now, faced with a wardrobe full of apparel, i have "nothing" to wear. The solution? Throw it all out and live in a suitcase again!

+ Driving .. : For five weeks or so, I caught many taxis, many trains, many buses and had many people drive me around. My daily challenge now is to drive properly (within speed limits of 60km/h and in my designated lane) when I go for my morning workout. it has certainly proven tough, but I still have my lovely bf to drive me places when the going gets tough ;)

+ Food : Food is always a highlight overseas. I am now faced with boring food at "exorbitant" prices, and quite intriguingly, my tummy is no longer responding favourably to perth food. Naomi reckons its because australian food isnt "dirty enougH" for my tummy, which has seemingly become conditioned to eating unhygienic asian style foods... Every day after a meal, my tummy reacts strangely. haha and might i add here that noooo it isnt a case of the "runs", just a bit of uncomfortableness.

So it seems to me that my body is rather strange. I would never have thought that a mere five weeks away would cause so much disruption to my routine, to my body, and to my sense of familiarity. But it seems the case. And only time will make it change back..

In my house, we stock up on everything. There are 20 brand new spare toothbrushes, about 12 different types of toothpaste (all new, still in boxes), several special types of gels etc, but not one packet of floss.

*grumpy*

... so with that, im going to go buy some dental floss!

Male presents are the worst presents to buy... even worse when they mean something to you! Today is my dad's birthday and like every other year, I always fail to think of a fabulous enough present for him. And like every year, I treat him to lunch / dinner instead...

When i was younger, I once bought him some soundtracks to the "Rocky" movies. *lol*. Needless to say, they were never used or listened to. One year I bought him a Parker pen, but given that I always lost pens, that Parker pen became mine. Another year I bought him a coffee maker machine.. This seemed like such a fabulous idea at the time, but given that he's the only one that drinks coffee in my house, a machine that keeps 8 cups of coffee on hold was actually a terrible idea. He asked me to return the coffee machine :(

The only "successful" present i've ever managed to get him is the chinese tea set I got him for Father's day last year. It's used every day and works a treat when friends pop over for a visit.

So... barring hankies, ties, wallets and shirts, there seems to be no hope when purchasing for dads..

Life back in perth has certainly meant slowing down. When i was overseas, I walked fast, made sure I got on trains and bus-es on time and had something to do everyday. Now? Im stumped for things to do. My days have consisted of going more shopping and some little catchups. All in all, it has certainly involved less activities and more relax time.

Yesterday I went to have dimsum with Simon and Trev and everyone... It was so good to see familiar faces , especially Hopkins! Hopkins has been away as well (for one week less than me) and the amazing thing is that he stayed in a resort in Phuket that is now no longer there. Even more amazing is that he was staying on the ground floor of a three-storey resort, and given the intensity of the tsunami, is most lucky that he checked out of phuket just before the tsunami came in. We listened at dimsum in awe (and laughter) as he described the experience of feeling an earthquake (and thinking it was his sister rocking the bed), and of course his extreme luck (and perhaps fate/destiny?) that he left phuket before anything happened to him. So yes, definitely an interesting lunch :)

After lunch trev and clara and me and quan went to do some shopping in the city. After I came back from 5 weeks of delicious foods, I now require the use of larger sized items. haha., This all came to light when on saturday night, i was picking out some clothes to go have coffee in and to my utter dismay, all my jeans were sooooo tight and restricting (or not even zipping up)! eek. So yesterday i went to look for some new jeans but had no luck seeing as though they didnt have any more sizes left. Oh wellz.

Today Ive started my fitness and toning regime again and was going to go to the beach but decided to go tomorrow . .. Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather (eww). :)

Hello! I arrived back in perth yesterday morning and the whole change from the hustle and bustle of career-minded singapore to the relaxing atmosphere of small city perth has been rather overwhelming. The first thing i noticed was how relaxed perth really is. Things such as walking pace, dress sense, behaviour and friendliness really illustrated this difference to me, and boy am I glad to be back!

Anyways, i will be going back to my normal blog soon (not blogger.com) but it might take awhile since im in the process of upgrading my home network to a wireless one on broadband. That requires me to purchase new parts prior to setting it up, and since all my files are on my laptop, i wont be able to update the keroppi page for awhile.. Until then, you can check back here :)

My holiday?

Well, after malaysia, I went back to singapore for a couple of days and those days were spent surveying the general shopping area for things to buy in the "last minute rush". After that, I flew out to ChiangMai in Thailand for a rather cultural experience. ChiangMai is apparently the second largest city in Thailand (behind Bangkok) but even then i felt that I was still in a rural village amidst development. There were time-old transports such as tuk-tuks and funny ute-buses as well as bargaining techniques and lots of old-style markets. In ChiangMai we went elephant riding, food eating, bamboo rafting, visited some tribes, saw waterfalls and climbed hills, saw handicrafts being made and basically soaked up the vastly different Thai culture. Loved it :)

Following Thailand we headed back to Singapore for two or three days where I was greeted by sale signs and the craziness of last minute shopping. Luckily for me, I had already done most of my shopping in Malaysia so I wasnt too rushed in Singapore. Ive bought quite a bit from shops such as MNG/Mango , Topshop and a store named "Identity/FWS/IS". Oh, and to my surprise i bumped into Pete and Taryn at Zara in Takashimaya! hehe what a coincidence!

Anyhoo.. Having been back for a day and a half has meant lots of unpacking and of course, the dubious task of finding a place for my 21 or so new pairs of shoes. Yes, they are certainly a pretty sight to see :) hehe but even then, having been conditioned to the excitement of daily shopping, I went out today to the Galleria to get some hair and skin products, and picked up 4 items of clothing. Argh. I I can feel a shopping addiction coming back on .. This cycle of shopping must end.... :S

But anyways, Im looking forward to seeing lovely faces again and spending time with family, friends and loved ones! (oooooh what a corny phrase).

Hi Hi! Greetings from Malaysia! Sorry about the long long delay between blogs! I havent had internet access for awhile so its been hard to blog :) Soooo here's a recap of malaysia so far:

Shopping:
Everything here feels like its on sale! well actually , its because it is. haha at first, i was shocked to see the prices "400RM" for a jacket. No thanks! haha but after conversion, it works out to be only about 140ish... and everything here is only about $20-$50 ! Shoes here are even cheaper! Ive managed to get stackloads of shoes at abuot $15-$25 australian dollars and they're considered "good brands" over here... Ohhh everything here is shopping heaven. I even had my dad call me whilst he was on his holiday in hongkong to tell me to stop buying shoes.. haha . Needless to say, the phonecall did nothing :p

Toilets:
Malaysia has truly started its path to modernisation. When i first got to malaysia i was so afraid to use the toilets, for fear of having to squat on top of a 'hole in the ground' whilst standing in a pile of urine. No longer the case (well, 70% of the time). I now get to sit on proper toilets . For some, this is not a big deal. For germaphobes such as myself - it can mean the difference between a health kidney and a dead one. My only qualm however is that none of the toilets EVER have toilet paper, so ive resorted to carrying my own little supply of tissues :)

Living:
Whenever i'm over in malaysia, the only thing i eat is Assam Laksa. Its the only place i can get real authentic assam laksa. Usually, this is accompanied with a bout of diarrheao, but once again, as malaysia is becoming more modernised, I am sooooo proud to say, diarrhea has not occurred (hahaha lol too much info eh??). The pollution in KL city is shocking though. I cant breathe and i end up smelling of smoke and having black shoes and feet by the end of the day. However, luckily for me (not so lucky for my shopping), im not staying in inner KL city so the pollution does not affect me where im living.

New Years Eve Celebrations:
Cancelled. Yep. My NYE was supposed to be spent at the countdowns in KLCC or around bintang walk, but due to the tsunami death toll, the malaysian government has decided to cancel NYE celebrations. So, instead, I think we are just going to the pubs or something hehe with 10 of my cousin's friends.

So... that's a quick and basic sum up of my time in KL. On monday im heading back to singapore for a lil while. I should have better access to net there so ill try blog more :) Until then.. happy new years!

Supa Dupa Girl-Kae is the eldest of three kae's and is therefore the supa dupa one of the lot (as given to me by Alvin). Currently residing in Perth, WA, Girl-Kae is a happy go lucky bubbly girl, who loves to shop, eat, and sleep. When she's not working, she can be found at home being a homebody, glued to the screen watching enormous amounts of drama series, out eating icecreams and cakes, and shopping till her heart's content.
