Kae's Pick for the melbourne cup : Leica Falcon

Why ? Because I like the name.

My workmate commented that that was a really stupid way to pick horses, but I responded saying that in the past, about 80% of my "nice name" horses have come in the top 3.

hehe so we'll see if Leica Falcon falls in the 20% or the 80% ..

In other news, JET APPLICATION close very shortly. And i have no time to do it :( I have to work, and I have to study for exams.

Will someone do my application for me ?? *batters lack of eye lashes*

It's friday night already.. time goes by quickly! On wednesday night i went to the driving range with the northies and we hit a couple hundred balls between us... I got taught how to hold the golf club, how to hit the ball - all the important stuff. Was pretty proud of myself at one point because i managed to hit the ball to 100metres using the wedge :D haha yes *proud*. But it's friday already, and my arms and shoulders are still sore. Even worse, my hands actually have bruises .. haha probably held the clubs too hard. But anyways, had lots of fun :) and we're going to make it a weekly thing - although the next few weeks i'm tied up with exam preparation so i guess i wont be able to :( .... But i did some study on ADHD .. and now im catching up on relax time by watching one of the most romantic movies ever (and with the hottest couple!!) - THE NOTEBOOK <3

On Saturday Night , Peter, Peter, Bao, Quan and I headed in to the city for the Northbridge/Artrage Festival. I think it's the first ever festival, and I had a really enjoyable night :) I love atmospheres where everyone is really happy, people are dancing in the street, and where there is no attitudes to deal with.

James Street, Lake Street and I *think* Francis Street were all closed off for a big street party held over five stages , and one catwalk. The crossfire dance spectacular was definitely something that I enjoyed, with each stage transformed into a boxing ring and dance performances taking place in a tag-team sorta thing across the stages. I loved the Salsa dancers, the ArtRage performers, and the PoleDancers. There was also a food competition at the catwalk stage, as well as a fashion show - but i didnt really like much of what was going on there.

I didnt bring a camera because I didnt think it was an event requiring one, but I managed to get some dodgy snaps with my mobile :

There were also exhibits held around various spots in northbridge such as the Post-It Note Project starting from Keith & Lottie and the dramatic arts at the Chung Wah Hall. Overall, i certainly hope the City of Perth continue to fund this event :)

After that we headed to Seoul BBQ for some good ol' fashion korean food. hehe Everything that I ordered - the guy said "no". He didnt speak very good english, so the abrupt "no" was a little scary for me, but I soon realized they probably just ran out when he said "no" to both of Peter's orders too.

.. Anyways, today i went to work a bit tired and not really wanting to work. But lucky for me (and not so lucky for my ears), there were maintenance things happening on my office building which culminated in muchly loud drilling and hammering. At 3pm, my manager finally told us to all go home - apparently no one could concentrate with the maintenance work, and it was an occupation health hazard to have to listen to the racket :) So i got to go home early! *woot*

I said to myself that when i got home, i would study. It's now 7pm and im far from starting it. *doh*. One thing learnt - kae is always happy to put of studying for as long as possible! >)

Okay im getting slack at blogging, so i thought i'd just do a big blog to make up for it.. :) This week has been a rather busy week as well - with exams looming in just two and a half weeks, and lots of work to be done both at real work, and in study work, i haven't had the time that I need to myself and to do the things that i like to do. But this week i have managed to *try* to fit in a little of kae-time into the week and whilst im physically and mentally exhausted at the moment, i feel that those little things probably kept me from going insane :)

On Wednesday night, Jez , Michelle and I went to the Alannah Hill VIP night at ... err.. Alannah Hill. We actually got there at about 5.15pm - way too early, since the night actually started at 6pm so we sorta just wondered around looking for food. Michelle and I saw the biggest yummiest looking pie - it was seriously big enough to feed a family, and pretty cheap too, but alas, we decided not to be incredibly piggish and forwent (is that a word?) the big big pie. Instead, Jez took us to Coles / Woolies (can't remember) and we went a big crazy staring at the discounted chocolates and sweets. I think Jez bought quite a few chocolates and being the diabetic-phobe that i am, i declined but she made me take an aero - so that will come in handy when im craving mint bubbles of air chocolate at work :)

At 6pm we went into Alannah Hill and were served by the lovely sales assistants who pampered us with the cutest little cupcakes, and the yummiest tasting champagne. Jez and I normally don't drink, but that champagne was soooo yummy, and I was a little disappointed that I left it in the changeroom :S We flurried around trying on a bunch of clothes , but were really really good and didnt' actually buy much - i think Jez and Michelle bought one thing each, and me - NOTHING!

[ kae and meifania - doesnt she look purty in her alannah hill clothes?]

Actually to be honest, i was really disappointed i didnt get anything. The reason being was because that night everything was 20% off, plus MSU had gotten me a Alannah Hill gift voucher as a "farewell" present and i still didnt get to use it! *sobs*.

We also met Alannah Hill - who is to be honest, kinda scary looking. She had a face packed with makeup and a whole bunch of red lipstick and dark eyeshadow. I think the three of us were quite intimidated by her hehehe .. But we took photos with her too , and these are courtesy of Michelle's Camera :)

[Kae, Alannah Hill and Michelle]

I actually felt really really bad when i met Alannah Hill - i said to her "sorry im not wearing any of your stuff - i just came straight from work" ... heheheh funny what people with clown makeup can do to you :S

After that we went back to West Perth to get my car and also to pick up Jez's schoolbag. On the way, Jez decided that we would be smart and take a shortcut into subiaco, but we ended up getting lost and guess where we ended up ? THE CEMETARY of all places! hehehe I kinda freaked out because it was late at night and super dark, and Michelle tried to reassure me we wouldnt get killed or chased by ghosts by saying that there were palm trees around.. hehehe such a cutie :)

.. and then on Thursday Night, jez and I went back to primary school days and had ourselves a girly sleepover! First off, we went to Garbo for some shopping but were super good and didnt get anything, but we ate those yummy crepes at Crepe Cafe and decided they were the best value for money desserts out~ :)

At night we watched some surgery show about men with boobs - yes actual boobs, not just fat people's boobs... These men had real boobs and some were having them removed (it was really disgusting) but some were loving that they had boobs (possibly a weird fantasy of theirs??) and even went bra shopping with their wives.. hehehe Jez and I played in her wardrobe for awhile because she has such lovely things then we went to bed - i got a little guestroom and i felt like i was in a hotel ! hehe :)

[jez and kae - jez has to wear a funny stocking on her head to protect her braids
and well, she felt silly in the photo so she made me wear that hat hehehe ]

And in other news - i bought myself a brand spanking new mp3 player. Actually, i bought the Olympus m:robe first but when i took it home and had a play with it, it really lacked any functions, and the sound quality was poor to say the least. Also, the touchpad was so annoying that I almost broke the screen in my frustration. And....... to top it off?!?! The box was missing half its contents. Yep that's right, my olympus m:robe didnt come with a battery charger, a dock, and the connection cable... ERRRR!?!?! So i called dougie up (he works at megamart) and told him and he told me to just bring it back :)

And in its replacement, i bought myself a cute little Creative Zen Micro .

I actually wanted the pink one but it was more expensive so i decided it wasnt worth paying extra for a colour, and got a white one instead... Ive only had it for two days but i love it :) I did a lot of research between the Micro, and the apple Ipod and decided that the micro trumps the ipod in most aspects :) The sound quality and the earphones are pretty decent for a stock standard mp3 player (muchly better than the olympus m:robe), and the navigation is really easy to use, and i think its pretty cute :) The only bad thing about it is that the stupid engineers at creative decided that right smack bang in the middle of the vertical touchpad, they'd put a clicking thing to select items. So, when u scroll, u might inadvertently click on something u don't want *ggrrr*

Okay that's my big blog for the week :) Hope i made up for it! :)

It's very seldom that we get to dress up in silly clothes, and have a very girly night out, but last night, Shaz's 21st at Cream called for just that :) Armed with shaz's very directive dresscode "MUST WEAR DRESS or SKIRT", the girls and I flurried around for what to wear.

Of course, knowing me, i left it to the very very last minute when i realized that the skirt I wanted to wear had not yet been altered, and therefore, way too big for me. In a panic, i grabbed the closest batch of double sided sticky tape and sticky taped my skirt together so that it was a smaller size! hehehe.. of course, this meant not much , and if required, very careful movement so as not to snag the tulle :S

But anyways, the 7 of us girls went off to Cream in East Perth to enjoy ourselves a little bit of gossip, a little bit of shock, and a little bit of yummy food :) As girls would have it, none of us could really make up our minds (except for Jye who insisted that 5 scallops would be enough for her!! hehehe) , so we had a nibbly from everyone's plates.... :)

[Jye, Bau, Kae, Shaz, Taz, Jez, Xin]

We then went back to shaz's place to meet up with the boys, where xinmin and i did our annual fitball unco balancing photo, and we caught up just before they headed to Llama Bar.. ( i couldnt go because im still working on my assignment *cry* ).

[xin and kae being idiots again]

After shaz turned 21 last night, it made me realize just how we're moving on with the times now. At dinner, xin, shaz and I spoke about how we only have few more weeks left of uni, and how we will be graduating, how xin will be moving interstate for her new job, and how quickly time has passed. I guess it's a little sad reflecting on things like that, but at the same time, I think we can also look forward to having ourselves a big bright future, and with that .. i shall end off my little blog with wishing Shaz a very fabulous 21st year and a big bright future ahead :)

I know this is somewhat contradictory because im going to whinge and whine about the same thing in my topic, but...

At work, there is a girl - when she's nice she's lovely - but all she does is bitch. She bitches about the other people at work, about her friends (!!!), about general things, and she doesnt hide it either. And being the one that sits closest to her, she bitches these things to me, and my 8 hours a day at work is marked by incessant bitching, and me just smiling . I dont really think half the things she bitches about is worth bitching about - i know the guys in the office always make jokes etc, but I dont think that anyone should take them to heart . If you can't have humour in the office, it wouldnt be interesting right? But she can't take these jokes - i think she takes it a little too personally, and then she complains, and she makes comments back at them - but not in a nice joking way, but "below the belt" type jokes ...

and i know she wants to get me on her side, but i just keep doing my work, put my head down and smile occasionally....

It never occurred to me how bad girls bitching sounds, but when u hear it every day about the most stupid things on earth , then it really starts to get irritating.

*sigh* I dont know what to do - maybe if i keep smiling and never saying anything back , she'll stop bitching?

I know i know - im contradicting myself by doing it on my blog.. but i had to rant a little :) I really like her most times, and she's a great food and lunch buddy, but i can't take any more bitching.. *CRY*

The other night we went to UWA's makeshift "pasar malam" night :) and it was soooooo much fun! MSU had a little store selling fried noodles and ice kachang and we had a lot of fun selling it, and making it .. and making a racquet and mess whilst at it. But we sold out so that was all very very exciting! We ate char siu pao's and satay , and .... REALLY BAD YUKKY tofu fa (it was HARD tofu and brown ewww), umm.. french cakes, doryaki, rumballs and funny its and bits.. it felt sooo good to be a part of pasar malam - felt just like being in malaysia again. :)

.. ok keeping this one short because i have to do my assignment :(

Kae's finished product :) Not too bad for a first time project hey i say.. :) But Ive also found my mum's old overlocker, so I will redo this skirt properly :)

On other news, we made a day of the lovely sunny weather and had our first offical "YFL" game.. hehe Yaolin Football league - which includes Yaolin, and me and clara! heheh Clara and I (being the only girls there), were drafted as a 2 for 1 bundle, because well.. we're crap :) haha so whoever chooses us, gets two (not very good but still get TWO) players, and the other team gets one guy.

When it came to picking teams, it became primary school all over again. The boys that were fabulous (Phil, Richard) were drafted first, and clara and I would wait patiently for the "leftover" draft picks.. heheh we were always drafted some place last, but it still made us feel silly :)

Today's game? We lost :( But it was a fun way to get a great workout, catch up with friends, and make the most of a fabulous day! :) I think this YFL will be a weekly thing - well, at least i hope so :)

Jez's sewing machine is at my house at the moment, and yesterday we went to look for patterns and material so that I could sew. heheh This will be my first project! I eventually took out the pattern and realized i had no idea what to do with it. Do i cut out the paper, sew it onto fabric, then rip it off when its sewed? Or do i cut around the paper, and then sew that fabric? And then what about lining, and seams, and hems, and ZIPS? OMG, how am i going to put a zip on??!??!

Okay, so today im going to attempt to sew it :p and I will take a photo of it even if its bad :p haha Okay wish me luck :)

Supa Dupa Girl-Kae is the eldest of three kae's and is therefore the supa dupa one of the lot (as given to me by Alvin). Currently residing in Perth, WA, Girl-Kae is a happy go lucky bubbly girl, who loves to shop, eat, and sleep. When she's not working, she can be found at home being a homebody, glued to the screen watching enormous amounts of drama series, out eating icecreams and cakes, and shopping till her heart's content.
