It is common knowledge that once something becomes well known, the prices inflate, and the quality deflates. Take for example, the large amount of over-rated designers who cash in on their celebrity by charging $300 for a plain bonds singlet with a little print on it, or those sports labels that get their shoes made for $6.00 then charge $300 only because of their logo.

.., but these things also happen on a much smaller scale. Take for example, one of my favourite ice cream places. Why do i love this ice cream place? because it combines my two favourite chocolates in the world and makes it into a delicious sundae.

However, a recent outing to Il Gelato has caused me quite some distress (well, not really.. but i like to exaggerate), and has become today's subject of clever investigations. You see, I ordered my little baci + ferrero gelato in a cup, and waited patiently till i got it. On receiving the cup, i didn't notice anything, but after approximately thirty minutes of eating and slurping, i actually managed to finish it ...

I suppose that's nothing to most people, but i have never - without fail - ever finished a full cup of icecream from il gelato. Not sure why - I doubt that it's because it's not yummy, and I doubt that it's because they give too much, i think it might be because it gets so cold my brain freezes momentarily .. but anyways, back to my clever investigation of the week..

So anyways, I took my little cup home and then took out my other little cups collected from over the last year or so..

and alas! My new il gelato cup was now just a little over 1/2 the size of its predecessor! I draw your attention to Exhibit A :

[ Exhibit A : The minimalising of ice cream cups ]

Sigh. For $3.50 a year ago, I could've had twice the amount of icecream than I can now :(

PS. And in case you're wondering why I keep my cups , I have this crazy fantasy that one day I'll throw a gigantic gelato party at my house , with all the flavours in the world, and i'll already have the gelato cups ready!

It's a friday night, and I'm looking forward to rest and relaxation. To keep me company tonight is

- Episode 13 of Grey's Anatomy.. I'm hoping Dr. McDreamy and Meredith get back together.
- Prison Break Episode 17 - technically only at 93%, and stuck! *boohiss*

and of course, my beloved Dominoes Family - made up of Sammy, and Kenneth. Who ? ahh.. the SIMS!. How i love thee..

My Sims House - I built this after my boyfriend and Naomi laughed at how small my other house was. It's a rather sad testament of how much I love the Sims 2, but I actually picked up the real estate section of the newspaper and built my house based on one of the plans (minus laundry etc because sims don't need them!)

The top floor of my empty house. I was so poor to start with - and then i paid for the building of my house, and now have no furniture.

I realize this post is rather sad-ish in its love for virtual reality gaming. But I am not ashamed to admit that I'm a sims addict ;) Anyone else?

I just spent the last half hour attempting to fit my little digital camera memory card into my computer's "7-in-one" card reader.. and it wouldn't fit. Then i noticed that my memory card was an XD card and not an SD Card. *Doh*.

But anyway, too annoyed to write hehe.. and lazy too (hence lack of blogging).. so just putting up some better pics because trev's is crap .

These are from Simon's birthday at Hippo Creek.

Simon's Rather delicious Il Gelato "Ferrero" Cake

A rather cheesy snap of Simon, Quan and Me

My awe-inspiring meal. 500gm steak on a half a meter skewer.

And in that al-foil wrapped bit is chilli garlic butter..

the skewer is still hot so the butter oozes down over the meat and onto the chips.

mmm deliciously fatty :p

Simon's 1kg steak.. not looking very big i'm afraid

Very quick post to update .. I am a little ashamed to admit this, but I went to Heart of Asia last night with the girls.. :S hahah i suppose it's an annual thing to go and see what silly dances these girls have to do, and see whose hot and who "thinks" they're hot :D Overall, it wasnt as good as the previous years, but there were a few girls that were definitely very pretty ... the winners were two girls that looked like twins/sisters, and although their cocktail waitress routine was rather cute, I actually don't think they should've been allowed to win given that one of them actually entered last year and got no position... For "contests" like this, recycling girls shouldn't be allowed :D

We also stayed for the stripper, who umm.. unfortunately to say, caused lots of giggles and laughter and ewwww's from us .. hehe

That's all.. im really buggeredly tired so that's why the rather boring short post.

Following on from my "perils of friendster" post, I have now encountered a real life situation of possibly friendster stalking.

Case in point: I have recently (yesterday) been informed of a weird stalking experience... you see, My boyfriend's ex gf went up to one of my fabulous gal-pals and said to them:

"you're on friendster ... you know kae right? ... i used to go out with her boyfriend after they broke up and yeh, now they're back together"..

Now little kiddies.. here are some important rules to abide by if you're planning to use friendster to suss out friends and ex's...

1. NEVER admit that you "know" someone from friendster.
2. NEVER admit to checking out your ex's current significant other's profile.
3. NEVER admit any of the above to said current significant other's best friends.

*tut tut tut*

Yaolin BBQ
And in other news (yes trev.. if you read my last post properly, i blogged it BEFORE the bbq hence why it's not included!).. hehe On Easter Monday i went and joined the Yaolin boys for their annual post-post-post chinese new year bbq at south perth forshore. Had mountains of meat (oh i can feel my insides filling up), played some very very poor football (I think i touched the ball once or twice in half an hour whilst Natalie managed to kick 3/5 goals!!!!) and became one of the boys for the day.

Had fun - thanks Yaolin Boys ;) Sorry no photos.. my blog is becoming blocks of text :(

For those who managed to sneak into my blog in the last 5 hours, I deleted my inflammatory anti-asian post, for fear of some lunatic pro-asian person coming up to me and stabbing me (because, well, that's how asians solve things)... :S

But anyways, a quick post about easter.. nothing interesting..very boring actually.

Thursday Night: Went to dinner with my family at Seizan. Because i get paid monthly and joined my new workplace prior to the cut-off date, I got paid 5 weeks salary instead of 4, as well as being paid for the conference I attended. So all i all, I got a bumper pay this month - 90% of which went straight into my savings account, and the rest for me. So I thought i'd take everyone out to dinner, and it was actually good. I have been to seizan before and it was rather sub-optimal, but this time, the food was great, the service fantastic, everything else was perfect. mMM.

Friday: My cousin Valencia was throwing a little party for her son Gareth who has now turned two. As soon as i went up to him to wish him happy birthday and give him a hug, he threw something at me and then started hitting me *hmph*. That's why I like the little one Garrick better teehee. Grumpy children aren't very nice :D But anyways, nice to have caught up with Val & Stan who i haven't seen for a few months, and I can't believe he's 2 years old already! *Aiks*

Saturday: Despite my crazy migraine/headache, I went shopping with Jess on Saturday. We deduced that shopping is one of those things that kae and jess just "have" to do every week - even if we don't buy anything, it just must be done. Yes, sounds a bit obsessive :S But anyways, managed to use my Kookai ViP voucher and in the end spent less than $20 for the whole day! =D *WooT*

At night I was supposed to have dinner with Quan, but unfortunately due to my headache, I slept through it and missed dinner :( Instead, went out for some munchies with Quan's friends, and then went to Metros to meet up with Thanh and crew (which also became the subject of my anti-asian post that i have now deleted hehe).

Today? Resting.. :D *hurrah* That's what long weekends mean to old fuddy working people :( All you uni people : Enjoy the freedom of sleepin's and late nights whilst it lasts!

I am truly living in a warped time zone. Today I wished people 'HAPPY THANKSGIVING" because my tv dramas had two bouts of thanksgiving.

There is a problem. Seriously.

Armed with the knowledge that I would be doing "work" at home tonight, I decided I wanted to munch on choc chip cookies whilst working. Unfortunately, to my utter dismay, my dad used up all the flour in the house, and so i was stuck with my 1 egg, 1 cup of sugar, butter, and bag of choc bits. However, being the clever clogs that she is, my sister suggested that I make a flourless chocolate cake with the ingredients, because well, i didnt need flour for a flourless cake *duH*.

Now, i must say, I'm an okay baker. I've baked some fabulous things in the last three months including loaves, tarts, cookies, and cakes.. so it was with great excitement that I beat at those egg whites for approximately 40 minutes until "stiff peaks formed". After slaving away for what seemed like eternity folding the mixture in and beating bits and pieces, i put the cake into the oven for an extra 40 minutes and patiently tapped away on my laptop whilst researching AS4308 (haha smart term thrown in!).

Upon opening the oven door, I noticed that it was really quite ugly. Not to worry, the recipe itself had warned that the cake would collapse completely given the lack of powder. And so, i took it out and attempted to remove it from the pan. That's where it all went wrong.

I present to you my sorry excuse for a chocolate flourless cake. (It tastes okay though! Just have to eat it by the spoonful)

Let me first say that this is somewhat a hypocritical post , with my affiliation of being a blogger (yes, *everyone* wants to find out what i'm up to), as well as the networking tool being mentioned.. but anyways, this morning in my grumpy, cant-get-back-to-sleep state, I logged onto friendster, to check out the progress of my friends accumulation score - because hey , isn't that what friendster is for? :S

*shakes head*. It occurred to me that friendster is indeed a nasty piece of work. Besides the multitudes of "Dating Tips" "Hot sexy women" and those insane "friends" requests from anonymous people who are connected to your brother's friend's boyfriend's uncle's sister's friend, there are some truly dangerous aspects on this networking tool.

I (and my fellow friendsters) can freely admit that one of the most dangerous aspects of friendster is its stalking ability. Interested in finding out who Alison is going out with? Check friendster. Interested in finding out whether Billy and Bob are still friends? Friendster. Interested in finding out what your year 1 crush is up to? Heck- friendster can do it ;) Friendster gives you the ability to stalk and find out all kinds of things about your networked "friends", and what's worse - you can actually turn *off* your identity so people don't know whose stalking who. I found this out only because I went to a friend's page and she told me off for being a very very bad stalker. hehe :D

Now, another disturbing thing i've noticed is freedom of information. One glance at my network's "top searches" (whether or not this may be true) indicates that my 8082 second degree network has been interested in the following:

Now, I can understand that being graduates or nearly there graduates, my network would be interested in resume how-to. And i can certainly understand the apple ipod search, as well as the adidas search, because I have probably searched for both many times in the past. And being the *truly* understanding person that I am, i can even stretch to understand "how to tell if she likes you" "zodiac love match" and "love quizzes"..

But comeon people... "love calculator"!!!?? ,... *sigh*.. and i thought my network is cool :p hehe kidding :D (but not about the love calculator part!).

And number 3, friendster is truly a tool for marketing, or at least for love of oneself. There are so many people on friendster with 30 or so photos of themselves. There are even people with collages of fifty shots per collage. There are people that take photos of themselves a million times, and put them all up. Self-marketing at its finest i think :). To be on the safe side, I only have 9 narcissistic photos of me and my friends on friendster ahhaha .

~ 6:49 PM ~
Ever since i started my new job, I haven't had any time to get to the gym. By the time i finish work and make it back home, i've missed all the classes that i'm interested in going to. And after dinner etc, it's about 7-7.30 and by that time, all I want to do is relax and do nothing. $50 each month going to waste :S

So, i've decided (and i'm not sure if i'll do it! ehhe) that i'm going to become one of those annoying road users - yes people, im going to see if i can *cycle* to work. teehee. It's not a far distance - approximately 7km each way - so i would get a good amount of exercise each day if i did it. Some of my workmates also cycle to work so I know it can be done.

My only concern is whether I *have* to cycle on the road. I know i'm going to be slow , and I'm petrified of being honked at, or worse, clipped by a passing car and killed in the process *eek* so I wanted to cycle on the foot path.

So, my question now is .. Is it compulsory for cyclists to ride on the road? Can I ride on the footpath ? [ Looks at those people that work for the transport departments, and at the lawyers out there!]

Supa Dupa Girl-Kae is the eldest of three kae's and is therefore the supa dupa one of the lot (as given to me by Alvin). Currently residing in Perth, WA, Girl-Kae is a happy go lucky bubbly girl, who loves to shop, eat, and sleep. When she's not working, she can be found at home being a homebody, glued to the screen watching enormous amounts of drama series, out eating icecreams and cakes, and shopping till her heart's content.
