~ 7:19 PM ~
Just because i'm a boring person, and have nothing else to blog about (and am too lazy).. here is a restaurant review of the few places i've eaten at in the last 4 days:
Friday: Cafe 54
Located near my workplace, my pod buddies and I went to eat there for lunch last friday as we were trying to find an eatout to replace stops (which was at that moment occupied by our superiors).. so off we went to Cafe 54 for some yummy gourmet sandwiches. The service was fast, the sandwiches well-priced (between 7.00 and 10.00) and the food delicious. We had our own booth, and everything was pleasant. No hesitations in recommending it as a place for work lunches :)
Saturday : Shilla Korean Restaurant
Located on Majestic Quay in East Perth, Shilla is a stunningly placed restaurant with a gorgeous view. The service was good - but the lack of english speaking , english understanding waitstaff made it a bit of an ordeal to request certain things. The food itself was average - good (i prefer to eat at Seoul Korean BBQ for authentic korean food), and the prices were about $20 per bbq meat. One thing I actually didn't like was the fact that the waitstaff cook your meat at your table for you - i much prefer the fun in cooking my own meat and deciding what I want to eat, and what I want to leave for the company in presence.. I think if you're looking for a nice korean restaurant, Shilla definitely tops it, but if you don't mind the dingyiness of Seoul Korean BBQ, I would recommend that for food..
Sunday : SD Restaurant
Very average restaurant. Previously named Sarawak Delights, "SD" Restaurant has now lost it's authentic Malaysian feel. Gone are the traditional malaysian dishes, and instead, in its place is your generic chinese dishes. The food was okay - the toothfish yummy, the bak kut teh terrible, and everything else in between - the service was very attentive , albeit once again for the waitstaff with minimal english comprehension, and the prices affordable. I think if you want chinese food, you're better off at Billy Lee's - dingy place, but yummy food :D
Monday: Thailand Restaurant
Recommended by several people, the girls and I went to Thailand Restaurant on James St for dinner last night. Once again, lack of english comprehension made ordering a little difficult, especially since we had to instruct him several times that NO PEANUTS or PEANUT OIL were allowed , and even then we weren't sure if he understood us. Besides that, the food itself was delicious. It was very traditionally flavoured, with lots of spices, and lots of variety and full body dishes.. The prices were affordable (about $15 per dish).. would recommend it as a place for thai food if you don't mind the average surroundings (Dusit Thai is probably better if you want a nice atmosphere/location)...
That is all :D Lots of eating indeed!
